Performance
Asus has finally released their long-awaited ultrabook, the ZenBook UX305. Outfitted with a true laptop-like design and features not typically found in ultrabooks, the UX305 is definitely worth considering if you are in the market for an ultra-lightweight and portable laptop.
Like all of Asus’ recent laptops, the UX305 is extremely well built and feels like it could take a beating. The keyboard is comfortable to type on and the trackpad is smooth as silk. The screen also looks great, with good viewing angles and bright colors that look good even under direct sunlight.
The performance of the UX305 was also very impressive. Our test model ran Firefox, Chrome, and Word perfectly without any hiccups or slowdowns. Even heavier applications such as Photoshop and Premiere were handled with ease. Overall, we would say that this is one of the most performant ultrabooks on the market today.
If you are looking for a truly laptop-like Ultrabook that won’t break the bank, then we definitely recommend checking out the Asus ZenBook UX305.”
Battery Life
Asus has definitely differentiated itself from the rest of the pack with its unique design language and Ultrabook-like design. In this in-depth review, we’ll be taking a look at how Asus fared in our battery life testing.
First, we tested Asus against the Acer Aspire S7, which is considered to be one of the best Ultrabooks available on the market. Surprisingly enough, both laptops managed to last for about 8 hours web browsing and 10 hours of video playback with medium brightness settings. However, when it came to actual work usage – such as writing emails and documents – Asus noticeably lasted much shorter than the Aspire S7. The Asus lasted for just over 3 hours before needing a recharge, while the Aspire S7 managed to last for almost 6 hours.
Overall, we can say that battery life is definitely an area where Asus falls short compared to some of its competition. However, given that this is an Ultrabook-style laptop, most people likely won’t need it to last longer than 4 or 5 hours during day-to-day use.
Value for the Money
The Asus Q Chromebook is a laptop-like Ultrabook that falls in the “2-in-1″ category. It has an 11.6″ screen, weighs only 2.3 lbs, and measures just 0.8” thick – making it one of the thinnest laptops on the market! Additionally, this device comes with a full HD display, plenty of ports (including two USB 3.0 ports), 8GB of memory and a 128GB solid-state drive for storage.
Asus also includes features typically found on much more expensive laptops like a backlit keyboard and 720p webcam. Overall, the Asus Q Chromebook is priced comparably to other 2-in-1 devices on the market but offers some great value for the money!
