McDonagh spoke to RTÉ Sport about writing the documentary, his thoughts on McGregor’s current state, and how he plans to deal with UFC 229 aftermath.

“There was a lot of behind-the-scenes footage that I got access to that wasn’t used in the main event, so it was interesting getting to see that stuff. It’ll be interesting seeing how people react to it when it comes out because some of it isn’t what they were expecting. I think people will be surprised at how much story there is to tell in relation to this fight and the build-up to it.”

McDonagh also touched on McGregor’s future in MMA and whether or not he will ever fight again. He doesn’t seem too sure about it, but he does want to finish off his documentary before making any decisions about his future.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is a 25-year-old Russian born in Dagestan, who first came to prominence as a lightweight contender. After winning the IBF Lightweight Championship in April 2014. Nurmagomedov successfully defended his title against Rafael Dos Anjos before moving up to the UFC’s Welterweight division. In his debut UFC fight, Nurmagomedov defeated American Donald Cerrone via TKO in the fourth round. He followed this up with an emphatic victory over Irishman Robbie Lawler. Submitting him in the fourth round with a rear naked choke. In October of 2016 Nurmagomedov was charged with disorderly conduct and assault after an attack on a bus in Brooklyn, New York. The charges were later dropped due to a lack of evidence.

Nate Diaz is a 29-year-old American fighter who has been competing in the UFC since 2005. He is best known for his twelve-round battle with Conor McGregor which was dubbed “The Notorious”. Diaz won the fight by majority decision. But was subsequently stripped of his UFC Welterweight Championship for failing to defend it against McGregor in March of 2016.
